Getting A Better Nights Sleep With Hypnotherapy
The brain must go through a processing change in order for an individual to fall asleep. During the day when our mind is busy functioning the brain waves are referred to as BETA waves. The brain is fully aware, able to process and is quickly processing everything around the individual. A person can only fall asleep when the brain waves change to what is known as ALPHA waves. This is where the brain is in a dreamy state and reduces the amount of processing and awareness. This allows the body to relax and then enter into a sleep state. The problem comes when the brain continues the alert stage and does not enter into a decreased or slowed status. This is why when a person has trouble sleeping they begin to process the day’s events, problems as well as conflicts over and over again. This prevents the body from relaxing, creates frustration and further increases the stress that the individual feels. It is then very difficult to fall asleep and becomes a vicious cycle.
Since there are differing levels of consciousness in the human brain it is important that the individual understand how each level can affect them and their sleep habits. The unconscious mind stores all the events from the day and most oftenly years past. Eventually like anything else it will eventually reach capacity and overflow into the conscious mind. This is when the individual begins to experience problems, and frequently sleep disorders. This is because the body is unable to slow down, relax and enter into a peaceful sleep. It then becomes a vicious cycle because the individual begins tensing up and fearing bed time because they know that they will lay there for hours. It can becomes a vicious cycle and unfortunately until that unconscious mind is relieved and the person is able to relax it will continue.
Hypnotherapy works very well for sleep disorders and even teaching individuals how to relax their entire body. This relaxed state can help the person focus and fall asleep without even realizing it. During the hypnotherapy session the hypnotherapist will likely teach the person to self hypnotize in order to assist with sleep. In those cases where the individual has great deals of stress, depression or other disorders the process of hypnotherapy will alleviate the poor sleeping habits. Hypnotherapy is used by hundreds of thousands per year to resolve sleep disorders very successfully. There are no side effects, or negatives associated with hypnotherapy and it has been endorsed by the American Medical Association as a leading treatment for sleep disorders as well as many others.

Using Hypnosis To Overcome Infertility
Simply hearing of a woman desperately trying to get pregnant is emotion provoking, but can be devastating. Couples spend thousands and years of countless procedures trying to conceive a child, many times to no avail. The longer the infertility the more depressed and hopeless a woman becomes. After medical procedures fail it seems as if there is no hope of a newborns gracing life, but there is. Many women have found a way to clear their mind, refresh their body and become pregnant with nothing more than consulting a hypnotherapist.
The power of hypnotherapy or hypnosis has been around for decades and is used everyday to help couples that have lost hope. By using hypnosis a woman can learn to relax her mind, clearing the weekly stress, frustration therefore allowing her body to work appropriately. It is the same theory as the many stories that have been heard about the couple trying to get pregnant for years, adopting a baby and then conceiving one of their own. The reason for this is because the human body does not function well under stress. In fact it has been proven that stress can actually inhibit normal body functions. The mind is a very powerful tool, but can also work against us if we do not know how to control it and return our body back to homeostasis. Now that sounds like a fancy word, but homeostasis simply means back to a normal balance.
Using hypnosis to help a woman achieve pregnancy focuses on four principals or actions per session. The woman is not only led through relaxation by breathing, she is also encouraged to release stress through the power of visual imagery. Hypnosis is founded on positive imagery, suggestions and affirmations to clear the mind. The release of stress, worry and fear allows the woman to become more relaxed therefore increasing blood flow, reducing the functioning of the body.
A recent study concluded that women using hypnotherapy in light of unexplained infertility were more likely to conceive a child. The reason is not clear, but many scientists and professionals believe that it is due to the increased release of hormones such as the IL- gene and CYP 17 gene. These genes have been extensively studied and are very important in achieving pregnancy. Though the relationship is unclear it appears that these genes can be inhibited when the woman is stressed or anxious. Hypnosis helps clear the mind, relax the body and allow the release of hormones to create life.
Many couples undergo hypnotherapy without experiencing infertility. There are many benefits to treatment and can help with daily life. Some of the benefits include help for panic disorders, insomnia, headaches, irritable bowel and many others. Disease and illness have been treated through the power of hypnosis as well. There is simply no limit for the benefits or uses of hypnotherapy. It is safe, effective and should always be considered before invasive procedures or medications that have negative side effects.

New mom’s have a variety of emotions about that big upcoming day. There is excitement about holding that baby for the first time, but on the flip side there is fear and the unknown. For first time moms they have no knowledge of how intense the pain of child birth will be or how they will cope with that pain. There are many options, but several have undesirable side effects except for one. Hypnobirthing is not a new term or concept as it has been around for many generations. It may sound fancy and it is a very complex process between the mind and body. Instead of addictive pain killers the mother uses the power of her mind to calm her body allowing the blood to flow properly. Here is a little more about hypnobirthing and the benefits.
How It Works
A trained practitioner helps guide the woman through a deep relaxation allowing the muscles to relax. The pain that comes with childbirth is due to the muscles that are preparing to deliver the baby. When the cycle of fear and pain over take a woman the hormones released can inhibit the bodies’ normal processes, causing more stress as well as pain. Hypnobirthing creates a sense of relaxation, calmness allowing the mother to relax and focus on her breathing. This gives the mother a sense of freedom from the pain and allows her to enjoy the birth of her baby. Since this process works from the power of positive suggestions during the birthing process the mother is guided to positive affirmations, visualizations as well as thoughts to relax her mind and body. The mind is a very powerful tool and can be used to relive pain very effectively.
Can I Do This Myself
The answer is YES! A trained hypnotherapist will teach you the principals and how to enter into self hypnosis. In the months leading up to the delivery you can lean how to relax your body and use hypnobirthing to enjoy the birth of the baby. This can also help your body adjust to the many changes that it is undergoing because you are less stressed and more relaxed. The stress and fear of the unknown can place great worry on the mother causing her to tense up and even become depressed. Self hypnosis can help mom during the pregnancy because it is a form of relaxation and becoming one. This deep concentration allows the mother to enter into what some describe as a “daydream or altered state” that is relaxing. Pregnancy is not always a pleasant time with morning sickness, swelling, pain and discomfort so it is important for mom to be able to relax and focus on what is important.
Does Hypnobirthing Work
Hypnobirthing is recognized by the American Medical Association as well as many other professionals across the nation. Hypnosis has not only been used to help a mother through the laboring process, but also dental work, surgery and pain management. Most women that use hypnobirthing for a first pregnancy claim that they would use nothing else as they were relaxed, and the pain was manageable during that very special delivery.

Can Hypnosis Save My Relationship?
Can Hypnosis Save My Relationship?
By Yoshie Chihara-Want, C.Ht.
Hypnosis for Life, Honolulu Hawaii
When couples are experiencing turmoil in their relationship it can be anything but pleasant. Though in many cases each of the couple feels like they are right, most of the time they are a part of the problem as well. No one is perfect and if a person does not continually improve themselves they fall prey to issues with their self esteem, shyness, depression, and anger. This causes a decrease in communication, attention, and an overall negative effect on their love life. This can be prevented if the couple or each individual separately is willing to improve themselves, admit problems as well as move past them.
Believe it or not one of the leading causes of divorce and trouble in relationships is the past. Baggage can weight down a marriage or relationship to the point of drowning. Nearly every person enters a relationship with some type of “baggage” from past relationships, childhood or daily living experiences. One of the best examples is when a person is not trusting or suspicious of their partners every move. This may have been the case in the past relationship with infidelity, but it can ruin a new relationship very quickly. Hypnotherapy is designed to help the couple or individual move past that hurt. By entering the subconscious and dealing with those thoughts, feelings and irrational fears it allows the person to enjoy the company of their new relationship.
Hypnotherapy not only helps ease the pain of the past, but also can help a person gain confidence, restore sexuality, ease pain, open communication and many other critical issues to a relationship. Sometimes issues such as low self esteem or self consciousness can lead to serious problems in a relationship. Hypnotherapy can help a person achieve inner peace, while allowing their mind to erase negative or critical thoughts and feelings. After restoring positive affirmation and thought to the mind the couple can move past negativity into a positive relationship.
The leading goal of hypnotherapy is to allow the individual to explore the past and then let go. Turning loose of old wounds or hurt can be extremely difficult. After all it has been stored in the mind for many years and without entering the subconscious it is relatively impossible to release. Hypnotherapy allows the individual to access their internal thoughts and wiring to say goodbye to those painful or unhealthy memories. Regardless of whether or not the past is hindering a relationship, releasing those memories is healthy for the individual. They can cause not only emotional distress, but research has proven trauma can also affect the health of the individual.
All the more reason to deal with the past and then turn it loose, releasing the negativity.
Hypnosis or hypnotherapy also works for couples or individuals wishing to enhance their relationship. There does not have to be trouble in paradise before hypnotherapy can assist a couple. By learning to control negative or unhealthy thoughts and feelings the couple can enjoy an uninhibited sex life, and close emotional bond.
Hypnosis can be used as a tool to help a couple move to a deeper understanding of one another and use it to deepen their commitment to one another. This can be achieved because there are often what professionals call “roadblocks” or inhibitors in relationships. These so called “roadblocks” are mental thoughts, feelings or fears that do not allow the relationship to progress past a certain point. Hypnotherapy allows the couple to explore their thoughts and replace or remove any blocks that may be a potential hazard to their relationship.

Hypnotherapy To Stop Smoking
By Yoshie Chihara-Want, C.Ht.
Hypnosis for Life, LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii
It seems that the world is trying very hard to make everyone stop smoking with the rising costs and bans across the nation. Along with all the negative publicity smoking is also very bad for health making the stakes even higher for the smoker. After most smokers have tried the nicotine patches, gums and every other product they find themselves frustrated as well as smoking. Many give up and feel that they are stuck by their addiction. There is a way that can help people leave the nasty habit behind and without the withdrawals or other problems. Hypnotherapy or hypnosis has helped thousands of people lay cigarettes down and never look back.
Smoking just like other addictive substances is a psychological as well as physical addiction. There are cravings that can cause headaches, muscle aches and a number of other unpleasant side effects. Hypnosis has been helping people cope with a number of ailments for many years, in fact the past century. While the professionals are mixed on the terms and methods of hypnosis no one denies that it works. How it works is however a mystery and this is the reason for many professionals to refute it. People do not like to implement or promote something that they can not explain, while most others are not concerned as long as they see results.
Hypnotherapy is a term that is used today to detail the mental healing as well as the induced state of hypnosis. During the altered state of hypnosis a trained Hypnotherapist assists their client with achieving a relaxed state in which they can change their thoughts, cravings and feelings about particular things. Science has proven that during a hypnotherapy session individuals are very receptive to changes and suggestions such as the fact that they will not longer have cravings or that nicotine is a part of their daily life. Many are amazed at the fact that after only one or two hypnotherapy sessions that they had rather have a bottle of water rather than puffing on a cigarette. This is because the brain is what makes us crave something and when the hard wiring or internal workings of the mind are changed so are the desires of the person.
Now some might think that hypnosis or hypnotherapy is a cure all and it is not. There is no magic pill or wand that will wave and automatically release the desire to smoke, drink or over eat. It would be nice, but the person must have the desire to cease smoking and help themselves. It is important that each individual enter hypnotherapy with a positive regard in order to change their bad habit. Just like anything else if a person enters with a negative attitude or believing that they will fail, they likely will. It is no different for smokers. It is imperative that the person is entering the therapy with the desire and for themselves, no one else.
Finding a trained Hypnotherapist is important, be sure to ask the individual what types of issues that they treat and their training. Not all states require licensure as a Hypnotherapist, so training is important.

Changing Inner Child Working Through Hypnotherapy
By Yoshie Chihara-Want, C.Ht.
Hypnosis for Life, LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii
It comes as no secret that much of our personalities, quirks and habits come from childhood. In fact most people blame their childhood for their downfalls, shortcomings or other issues that they face in daily life. After all we learn by our experiences, the brain is compared to a sponge during the early years of life. Children learn to crawl, walk and talk and much more during the formative years. Unfortunately, no one has a perfect childhood and many people have unresolved or troubled learning. This can lead to many problems in adulthood which can range from minor to debilitating.
Negative Thoughts & Habits
There are two schools of thought about how a child develops their self esteem, personality and other internal workings. One thought process believes that children are products of their environment and their physical environment determines whom they become. On the flip side many believe that the personality and inner person is a product of heredity. In either case it is apparent that there is much room for negative thoughts, emotions and feelings to develop in childhood. Whether it be a negative parent, poor socioeconomic situation or lowered self esteem the child may take this negative circumstance to live by for the rest of their lives. Once negative thoughts, habits or traits are developed it is very difficult to change. It becomes a vicious cycle and will not change until the inner workings have been changed. One of the most notable ways to rework the inner child is to enter into hypnotherapy. During the formative years children are said to be more susceptible to change, notions and very impressionable because they alternate between their conscious and unconscious mind. Hypnotherapy works in the same way, the individual enters into the unconscious mind and can change those problematic feelings, emotions and thoughts.
We also learn how to treat others during childhood by watching our parents, educators, friends and other family members. This information seeps into the mind and is stored until adulthood. Many relationships have failed due to trust, abuse and poor communication skills. This can be changed by replacing those improper or negative thoughts with healthy ones. Since the mind is very susceptible and willing to change during the hypnosis session it is easy to change this behavior. The hypnotherapist will make suggestions and assist the individual with replacing the undesirable habits with new healthy ones.
Hypnotherapy is a process of changing the current inner workings of the brain. This allows the individual to change their lives permanently. Many people struggle with jobs, relationships and their lives because they are suffering from what they learned during childhood. People are influenced by the things that they see, hear and experience during their childhood. However this does not have to continue throughout life. It can be changed to allow the person to function healthy and happy life. After these details are changed the individual can pursue their dreams without carrying the burdens of their childhood.

Hypnotherapy And The Non-Smoker?
By Yoshie Chihara-Want, C.Ht.
Hypnosis for Life, LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii
Smoking is something that physicians use to prescribe to calm nerves. It is also a bad habit that has been around for years, causing much heart ache and pain. There are a million and two reasons to stop smoking and many failed attempts every year. The over the counter products and prescribe products alike make great promises, but often fall short of their claims. Along with the desire to stop smoking an individual must become knowledgeable about the entire process. This not only gives the person the tools to quit it also provides the motivation as well. The focus of this article is to examine why it is so hard to quit and how hypnotherapy helps a person lay cigarettes down forever.
Going Cold Turkey
Did you know that a recent study found that over 90% of smokers quit by going “cold turkey”. What is meant by cold turkey is that the smoker stopped smoking without reducing or the help of other products. This can be difficult and the smoker can experience many negative side effects. From feeling queasy to having aches and pains are just of the few things that smokers have to deal with. Other products that are suppose to ease the process can often have undesirable side effects as well. Not to mention the fact that they are costly and can have very serious health concerns if used improperly.
The Light At The End Of The Smoking Tunnel
If going cold turkey is painful and products have nasty side effects, this leaves the options limited and a negative picture. However, these things are real and smoking is not an easy habit to break it is possible. Research has found that hypnotherapy is one of the most effective ways to stop smoking and not return. This comes as no surprise after learning all of the other habits, behaviors and positives that hypnotherapy provides. The success comes from the fact that hypnotherapy provides a change in the programming or hard wiring of the brain. This is the only way to reduces the side effects and kick the cravings. After all the brain is the controlling factor in any behavior and the only one that can actually change the behavior. The smoking products on the market do not work on changing the emotions, thoughts or behaviors of smoking, but simply to repress the symptoms. Hypnotherapy or hypnosis on the other hand aims at changing the root of the problem.
Any Negatives To Hypnotherapy
The only negatives to hypnosis or hypnotherapy are the rumors or fears that some individuals experience before entering into treatment. There have been long standing rumors that hypnotherapy reduces a persons control, lessens their guard or has them clucking like a chicken. All of these rumors or fears are completely untrue. A hypnotherapsit can not guide you to say or do anything that you would not normally do. In fact you are in control during the entire session and can stop the sessions at any time. Many individuals find that they not only quit smoking through hypnotherapy, but also can improve their overall life.

Can Hypnotherapy Help Get Rid of My Fears?
by Yoshie Chihara-Want, C.Ht.
Hypnosis for Life LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii
It is estimated that more than 90% of all adults have at least one intense fear. For some it is as extreme as crowds and for others it is a seemingly silly fear like a cat or bird. Though it may sound silly to the person that has the fear it can be debilitating. Regardless of why the person has established the fear they commonly react the same to their feared situation. In most cases the reason for the fear is buried deep inside the brain stemming back from an earlier experience or association in life.
Past Times – Cause Present Fears
In every persons life there is a situation or circumstance that has caused them to feel a certain way or associate two things together. Just as a small child learns to associate the Golden Arches of McDonalds with a happy meal others associate things that may cause fears in their every day lives. Most of the time the individual can remember a traumatic experience, association or behavior that led to their fear. It is easier to understand if the person has some recollection of the situation, but in some cases the person may not remember anything at all. In fact several people suffering from fears really do not have any idea where their fear came from. And, this is where hypnotherapy can help them, not only uncover the root of the fear, but eliminate it all together.
Hypnotherapy To Uncover The Root
During the hypnotherapy session the trained Hypnotherapist guides the client through their stored memories to uncover the root of their fear. It may go decades into the past or as simple as a scratch on the surface. Since the memory, awareness and senses are heightened during the practice of hypnosis the individual can easily access memories that may have been repressed. It is not uncommon when a person experiences a negative or traumatic experience to repress or “hide” that experience. With a great deal of concentration or guidance from the hypnotherapist this memory can be accessed and replaced. When the memory is challenged it can be put into proper perspective, therefore calming or easing the fear.
With the help of the hypnotherapist the individual is then able to learn to cope with this negative event and relax themselves. One of the troubles with fears is that the person automatically tenses, blood pressure rises and the fear-stress behavior becomes a vicious cycle. At this point the “fear” response is not because of the “item or event” it is simply a habit triggered by a particular thought, saying, sight or smell. Hypnotherapy helps the individual regain control of their thoughts, senses and control them to reduce this cycle.
What About Irrational Fears
No fear is a small fear. They all illicit the same panic, stress and automatic reaction regardless of how small they may be. The fear of a clown may sound petty or nominal to one person, but to another it is phenomenal. It is important to understand that hypnotherapy is not a practice of evaluating or ranking fears or disorders. It is an uncovering of the true memories, thoughts or behaviors behind that fear, so it works regardless of the fear level.

Does Hypnotherapy Really Help With Depression?
by Yoshie Chihara-Want, C.Ht.
Hypnosis for Life LLC, Honolulu, Hawaii
One of the most difficult things to combat is the unknown. Whether it is an individual or a country at large, not knowing a cause of negativity is by far worse. The reason is because what is unknown is very difficult to change sometimes even impossible. While there are a number of reasons for depression, most stem from the individuals feelings of loss or negative thoughts. Where these come from are sometimes easy to determine, but most often are caused from years of pent up anger and frustration. Read on to learn how hypnotherapy can change sad feelings to positive ones.
Though hypnotherapy is not a cure all or miracle it is very effective at changing an individual’s feelings and behavior. How we as people feel about particular events or situations can lead us to either a happy feeling or sad ones. Over the years of all these feelings sometimes the negative stack up and end up “de-pressing” the individual. This is often a sign that the individual is not effectively dealing with issues that are happening, therefore committing them to the unconscious mind. As humans this is normal, but it can cause depression, stress and added stress that can lead to a life of unhappiness as well as health problems.
Hypnotherapy can assist the individual in finding the events, situations or sources of their depression. There may be more than one and in most cases there are several. It may have been the loss of someone that was loved or a bad break up with an ex-lover. Whatever the reason, these feelings need to be put into perspective to relive the depression or feelings of helplessness. By entering into the hypnotic session the person is able to safely explore the reserves and stores of the memory. After uncovering these memories they can then bring them into the light and deal with them effectively. After they are dealt with they are not forgotten, but simply placed in the proper perspective.
Finding the root of the depression is the most important step in treatment. Trying to change or correct what is unknown is next to impossible and hypnotherapy is the only way to access the stores of the brain. Now some might be concerned about brining up a difficult event or situation and relieving it in their mind. That is the reason that a trained hypnotherapist is very important in the session. They are there to guide the situation and help the individual gain control of these feelings. Facing the situation and dealing with it is what it takes to remove the negativity. This relieves stress, frustration and anger that keep the person from living a fulfilling life.
Hypnotherapy can be used for depression at all stages. It is safe, effective and a proven method. Individuals that have undergone hypnotherapy report that they feel better, more in control and have a higher self esteem after leaving treatment. Gaining control and putting past events into their appropriate place in the mind is important to health and well being.
